In order to
improve the overall standards of care delivery, it is essential
for health professionals to continuously upgrade their skills and
knowledge specific to their field of practice, but also regarding
trends in the health industry. The FSRI is fully committed to providing
continuing education curricula that meet international standards
for health professions such as physical therapists, occupational
therapists, family physicians, physician specialists, and dentists
within Kuwait and the Gulf region.
The structure of such continuing education strategies at the FSRI
will be aligned with the needs of the individual health professionals,
and include a blend of half-day courses and short one or two
days courses on relevant topics. We will also be developing
post-graduate, internationally recognized, specialization programs
in such areas as manual therapy, sports injury, and neurological
rehabilitation. Moreover, the FSRI will collaborate
with organizations from Canada in order to provide internationally
recognized certificate programs aligned with the Kuwait Office of
Physiotherapy Affairs (OPA) in priority areas of orthopedics/manual
therapy, neurology, burns, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, and pediatrics.
Alignment with the Kuwait Medical Association will provide similar
educational opportunities to family physicians and specialists/surgeons
with opportunities to upgrade their skills and educational base.
These programs will provide opportunities for clinicians in Kuwait
and the Gulf region to strive for excellence in their clinical practice
without interrupting their personal and professional lives.
Ultimately, the FSRI team believes strongly that the provision of
the highest standards in education translates into improved quality
of health delivery, which in turn benefits the residents of Kuwait
and the region.
