Cliff Fowler, MCSP, MCPA, FCAMT (Consultant Physiotherapist)

Cliff is a consultant physiotherapist at FSRI. Cliff received his certification in physiotherapy in London, England in 1959 and passed the International Manipulation Examination at the first International Meeting of Manual Therapists in 1973. He was an examiner for the Canadian Orthopedic and Manual Therapy Board from 1978, served as Chief Examiner from 1982 to 1985 and examiner for NAIOMT since its inauguration. He taught extensively in the US and Canada and internationally.

 
Jeff Garrett, B.A., Health Studies, B.S., PT, Diploma, Manipulation (PT), (Physiotherapist)

Jeff is a physiotherapist at FSRI. Jeff received his Bachelor of Arts in Health Studies from Queen's University, Ontario, Canada. He received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, Canada. He has advanced certification and a diploma in the area of Manual and Orthopaedic Manipulative Physiotherapy. He is a Clinical Associate of Cedar River Physiotherapy, British Columbia, as well as of the University of British Columbia. He has also served as a lecturer at both the University of Western Ontario in the Department of Physical Therapy, and at the University of Waterloo in the Department of Kinesiology. At the University of Toronto he was a course instructor. Demonstrating his level of professional commitment, Jeff has been an active member of the various regional and national Canadian physiotherapy associations.

 
Dave Archer, RPT, BA, BSc, (Clinic Director of Physiotherapy)

Dave is Clinic Director of Physiotherapy for FSRI. Dave received his Bachelor’s of Arts in Physical Education/Kinesiology and Psychology (Honours) at Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada. He also holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Physiotherapy from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. He is a member of the International Federation of Manual Therapy and the Canadian Physical Therapy Association. He has additional training in Mulligan Concepts, Acupuncture, MacKenzie protocols, Active Release Technique, and Muscle Balancing (Sarhman and Cumerford) and has completed a residency and fellowship in the Canadian Academy of Manual Therapy. Dave co-managed a successful private orthopaedic and sports injury physiotherapy clinic and bracing store in Canada for the last 10 years. In the field of sports medicine, Dave has designed and implemented emergency action plans for events ranging from track and field to rugby. Dave’s current focus is upon educating therapists in the areas of orthopaedic injury management and manual therapy

 
Fatima Juma, BSc PT, C.M.A., (Physiotherapist)

Fatima is a physiotherapist at FSRI. Fatima received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Within her practice as a physical therapist Fatima has specialized in acupuncture, which has become a very useful and highly effective tool in her treatment regimes. Fatima received her Certificate in Medical Acupuncture from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, and completed further training through an internship in Acupuncture & Moxibustion at The International Training and Exchange Center of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing, China. She has worked in Canada for the past 7 years in a multidisciplinary private clinic, treating orthopedic conditions involving sports, post-surgical, repetitive and sudden strain, work- related & motor vehicle related injuries. Aside from her acupuncture specialization and advanced manual skill training, Fatima also has specialized training in treating urinary incontinence in women.

 
Niamh Foley, BSc PT, (Physiotherapist)

Niamh is a physiotherapist at FRSI. Niamh graduated with a Physiotherapy degree (BSc Physio Hons) from University College Dublin, Ireland. Niamh has 5 years clinical experience working in hospitals and private clinics within specialist hospitals in the United Kingdom and Australia and, more recently, volunteering in India. During this time, Niamh has worked in a wide variety of clinical areas in highly specialised medical teams including orthopaedics and musculoskeletal (elective, trauma and sport injuries), neurology and spinal cord injuries (stroke, head injuries, neurological disorders), surgical and medical respiratory (critical care units and high dependencies and medical respiratory), and the care of the elderly (Day hospital, home visits), and paediatrics. This vast experience as well as continuing postgraduate learning has allowed for the development of advanced clinical skills to address a wide variety of conditions. More recently Niamh worked as a medical case manager with AIG Ireland co-ordinating medical management and vocational consultancy for companies around Ireland.

 

 
Anke Alex, State Certified Physiotherapist,(Physiotherapist)

Anke is a physiotherapist at FSRI. Anke is a graduate of five and a half years of state-approved physiotherapy training in Germany, including advanced training in treatment of upper and lower extremities and spine dysfunction and TMJ conditions. She has 7 years of work experience as a physiotherapist in Germany, India and Dubai, working in hospital settings, sports medicine, private clinics and research/training institutes. Her work as a physiotherapist has included the treatment of sports-related injuries, paediatric scoliosis treatment, as well as provision of physical therapy for those with disc herniation, lumbago, lumbar strain, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis and sciatica. Her main area of interest is the treatment of movement impairment syndromes of the lumbar and cervical spine.

 

 
Annica Lindstedt, Sports Massage Therapist

Annica is a sports massage therapist at FSRI. Annica started her career as a professional tennis player on the WTA tour for four years, achieving the ranking in doubles of 140 and in singles, of 400 on the women’s tour. She represented Sweden in the Federation Cup. In 1999, Annica was selected to coach the national under-14 girl's tennis team for Sweden, which she coached for two years. During this same period, she graduated as a Sports Massage Therapist at the Europeiska Massageskolan in Gothenburg, Sweden. She specializes in deep tissue massage using the Finnish classical massage technique. Following her graduation and after completing her duties as a coach of the national girl's team, Annica established her own company which specialized in working with work-related injuries on-site with the staff of a major hospital in Gothenburg (Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhus) and with other companies. During this same period Annica also had the opportunity to work with the professional tennis players in the Ullevi tennis club in the areas of injury prevention and rehabilitation.

 
 Mona Abdulhussein, Pharm D candidate, MSc, BSc (Community Pharmacologist)

Mona is the consultant Community Pharmacologist for FSRI. She is currently a Pharm D candidate at Purdue University in Georgia, USA, and has an MSc in Medicine’s Control and Pharmaceutical Services from the University of Bradford, UK, and a BSc Pharmacy with a Minor in Communication from Northeastern University in Boston. Mona works as a community pharmacist in Kuwait, having established her own pharmacy which provides free counseling services and small scale seminars to promote public health education, the proper use of diabetes medications, and to help minimize medication errors. Mona is committed to community service and has been active in both the US and Kuwait in volunteer initiatives to help vulnerable populations increase their access to support services and better information on medical usage. Mona has spent 5 years as the coordinating pharmacist in Kuwait for special requests for unusual medications, such as biological weapons antidotes, orphan drugs, experimental, and unregistered drugs for terminal and rare illnesses. She has been a clinical liaison between the Kuwaiti Health Ministry and Kuwait health offices in Germany, the UK and the USA, to help provide medications for organ transplant patients and follow up their progress during their stay and after coming back to Kuwait. She has a proven track record of working well in multicultural settings.

 

 
Nicky Francis, (Personal Trainer)

Nicky is the Personal Trainer at FSRI. She served 17 years in the British Army as a Physical Training Instructor and Mountain Leader before qualifying as a Group Exercise Instructor in Jan 2008. She moved into Personal Training and Sports Massage Therapy with Premier Training International and in the summer of 2008 qualified as a Boxercise Instructor. She has experience teaching classes, leading running groups & conducting one to one sessions. She is a qualified personal trainer, group exercise instructor, sports and remedial massage therapist, circuit trainer, gym instructor, Boxercise instructor and mountain leader. She is also trained in choreography and conditioning, as well as torso training.

 
Sabriyah Al Mazeedi, BSc PT, MSc PT, ScD Exercise Science

Sabriyah is a physiotherapist at FSRI. She was born in Kuwait but was educated in the United States, receiving her BSc in Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. She also obtained her MSc from Mass General Institute for Health Professions in Boston and her ScD in Exercise Science from Boston University. Sabriyah has a diverse work experience. She has worked as a physical therapist in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United States, primarily treating patients with cardiopulmonary disease. Sabriyah was also an assistant professor at Kuwait University for six years and at Simmons College in Boston for one year, teaching the cardiopulmonary section of the Physical Therapy curriculum

 

Mohammed Al Ameer, MA, Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP)

Mohammed is the Speech and Language Pathologist for FSRI. He is a graduate of Hampton University in the USA and has passed the PRAXIS for Speech /Language Pathology which is the board examination recognized by the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). This is the examination that is required to obtain a universally recognized practice license and which Mohammed completed in 2008. He has worked in the The Riverside Center, which is considered one of the best acute care and rehabilitation centers in the USA. He worked with adult patients, including stroke victims and patients suffering from traumatic brain injury and neurological disorders, working to restore their communication ability, unfreeze their facial muscles and overcome dysphagia (the loss of the swallow function). Mohammed has also worked with children in schools, ages 3-14, screening, diagnosing and treating all types of developmental or acquired speech disorders.

 

 
Zahara Manji, BSc, BHSc(PT), (Physical Therapist)

Zahara is a consulting physiotherapist to the FSRI. Zahara completed her training at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada receiving both a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Health Science (Physiotherapy). Zahara has over 10 years of clinical and management experience having practiced in hospitals, private clinic and within home care settings. She has a broad clinical background and skills in a variety of practice areas including cardio-respiratory physiotherapy, acute orthopedics, pediatrics, palliative care and neurological dysfunction. Zahara is available for home visits for patients who are not mobile enough to come into FSRI. She can assist with rehabilitation programs as well as adapting your activities at home to meet your abilities.

 

 
Sudha Raman PT, MSc(Candidate)

Sudha is a physiotherapist at FSRI She is a research associate at the Emergency Medicine and Injury Research Group in Kingston General Hospital, and is enrolled in a graduate training program in community health and epidemiology at Queens University, in Kingston, Ontario. She has worked as a clinician with children and adults across the continuum of care from the acute care setting to the home and community sectors in Canada. Additionally, she has worked as project manager in Afghan refugee camps in southern Pakistan, and has designed and implemented university curricula for physical therapists in Kosovo and Bangladesh. Her current research is funded through the Canadian Institute for Health Research (CIHR) where she is examining health risk behaviours and injury prevention among adolescents with disabilities.

 

 
Danna Al-Tourah, (Consultant & Chef)

Danna is a chef and consultant for FSRI . She specializes in Health Supportive Foods & Diets. Danna is a graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health & Culinary Arts (NGI), based in New York City, where she completed the Chef’s Training Program in April 2009. NGI is the only accredited culinary institute of its kind, specializing in health supportive cuisine with an emphasis on theoretical and practical approaches to diet and health. 

 

Danna's focus on diet and health is based on providing tailored diet plans to those with specific health concerns in relation to obesity, diabetes, cancer, high cholesterol, fertility issues, and food allergies, among other health and dietary matters.
